It was rebuilt after the earthquake of the 18th century by the Marquis of Pombal, with a classic style and geometric streets, in it abound the facades covered with tiles so typical of Lisbon. It is the most commercial district and during the day is very lively.

In this neighborhood are the most emblematic squares and streets. It begins in the Restauradores Square, which, through Avenida de la Libertad, leads to the Marqués de Pombal Square, where modern Lisbon begins.

Avenida de la Libertad

Avenida da Liberdade is a beautiful avenue of little more than a kilometer in length. It is the most majestic avenue of Lisbon, with buildings of century XIX and sidewalks covered with mosaics that form drawings in black and white. It is full of cafes with covered terraces, monuments and gardens.

Restauradores Square

Plaça do Rossio

Plaza de Figueira and Commerce Square

One step away from Plaça do Rossio is Plaza de Figueira, with classic buildings and an equestrian statue of Juan I, from which comes the elegant pedestrian street of Rua Augusta that, through a Baroque Triumphal Arch, We enter into the Plaza del Comercio, the most spectacular in Lisbon. Rua Augusta is flanked by old guild streets, highlighting Rua do Ouro and Rua da Prata.

The Plaza del Comercio is the most beautiful of Lisbon and was built where the royal palace was.
